back to school dinner

after talking to Nic, and reading this blog i decided to create a back to school dinner for the boys.
Archie requested Taco's, Nacho's and chocolate cake and Hugo wanted Sushi and Ice cream cake and slushie's
so that's exactly what they had.
i also made the boys a book, in it i wrote them each a letter hoping they have a good year, try their best and have fun. i am hoping the book will be a place they can add special thoughts, memories, notices, photos and drawings of their year; i guess a journal/portfolio of their journey of the year.
we all had a lovely night and i hope that this will become an ongoing tradition.

festival

a weekend of :: great weather :: parades :: wildlife exhibitions :: friends :: craft :: food :: markets :: good times :: memories ::community :: music the festival really sums up our little town. it was big, busy and fun and when we finally got home Sunday night about 8pm we were exhausted. it was a weekend of fun, music, entertainment family and friends. our little town rocks !!!!

5th Place

every year there is an annual duck race. all the schools and kindergartens and childcare centres have yellow plastic ducks for sale. $2 a duck and you take it home and decorate it. once decorated it is returned to the kinder, school etc. on the festival Sunday at 2pm, the ducks are all dropped into the river and float down stream..... Archie's duck got a place this year... 5th place very exciting considering there are 100's of ducks !!! well done Arch

the first time

This year Arch is able to participate in our towns, annual festival street parade. The whole town stops as the main street is blocked off for all the community groups, organisations, schools and kindergartens to process along the street which is lined with 100's of residents and family members. there was a buzz in the air this morning as Archie is now in 4 year old kinder and able to ride on the kinder truck. A little unsure at first but once he was on the truck with his Friends and teachers he ad a great time.

another year

Grade 2 and all the confidence in the world.......... laughing and chatting with his friends, waving to people he knew, happily part of the parade. the theme of the festival this year is carnivale.... hugo's school created masks to wear in the parade and they did a great job.

community

wow, it seems to be the week of school and kinder functions...
last night was Hugo's school's family BBQ - a great night catching up with new and familiar parents, grooving along to a very talented band, formed by 5 school parents, we all rocked on till the wee hours   bed time on a school night!!
tonight was Archie's turn, the welcome BBQ at Kinder. a sausage sizzle, face painting and a sandpit filled with water, what could be better !!
i am blessed to live in a community that gets it, that has great people in it, and is a special place fro my children to feel part of and grow up in.

a dress

last year I was reading Victoria's blog and saw this post. i feel in love with the this dress, but filed it away in my favourites, and forgot about it. it wasn't until Victoria posted this post about her beautiful dress that i was inspired again. My friend at work was having her 30th birthday party and i decided that i would have a go seeing that i had a place to wear it.....
i rang the uber talented Nic, who assured me that it was easy and yes she would help me, so armed with material and my machine i headed off to knitting on Tuesday night.... in 2 hours we had whipped up the dress. On Thursday i went round to Nic's and hemmed it and i then spent the evening creating the ruffle.
i was so happy with the result and proudly wore it out on Saturday night. (I even received a compliment about it....)
so thank you to Victoria for the inspiration and to Nic for her wisdom. A great team effort !!!

7

where did those 7 years go?
i feel like i have blinked and missed them.
Happy Birthday Hugo.
may you have a wonderful day and enjoy all that your 7th year will bring you.
my little man that absorbs all that is around you, holds it tight inside and lets a few privileged ones to see you for all that you are.
your beautiful smile, mischievous twinkling eyes, sense of adventure and fun.
may you learn to have faith in yourself, test those boundaries more, stand strong in your own abilities because you can do all that you want and more, laugh often, love lots and enjoy all that you do.
A Hugo day was had today; presents, poolside fun, a special table set with care outside, decorations and a small dinner with very special friends and our neighbours that are surrogate grandparentsPosted by Picasa

10 years

10 years seems to have flown, but then when i look back we have done so much
:: travel
::house
:: business
:: kids
::friends

10 years ago John and i were married. It was the best day of my life and if i could i would do it all over again exactly the way it was.
we had lots of fun and have so many wonderful memories of that day.
we had planned on something special for 10 years but circumstances at the moment haven't let our dreams unfold the way we wanted, but we had a lovely night celebrating in Melbourne.
the weather was warm and we had a great dinner. it was so nice just sitting together, spending time enjoying our food and watching the world go by.
happy anniversary bub.
i love you.
looking forward to many more 10 years.
