a great day...
for sewing in front of the fire...
the boys were busy making paper chains and watching a movie, so I took advantage and got some sewing done.
this weather is crazy, but i guess it's Melbourne ... tropical one day, freezing the next.

my garden
the weekend was spent enjoying the warm weather, cleaning up round the house, gardening and watching the boys swim in the pool.
i took the time to enjoy the sweet peas climbing the fence.

well it feels like summer this weekend.
the boys were in and out of the pool most of the day.
this is Arch taking some time to build in the sandpit.

the weekend that was
the weekend in the garden was exactly what i needed.
hard work, pruning, pulling vines off our back fence, replanting plants, creating new spaces within the back yard hopefully to encourage new play experiences, sensory and tactile development. john mowed the lawns which had grown so crazily in the last few weeks with all the rain.
By the time we finished our day yesterday as the rain came down i looked around and the back yard looked good.
apparently it passed Archie's test as he spent nearly all day playing out there today enjoying the new spaces and re discovering old ones.

a weekend in the garden :: day 2
by the time i got to planting out the veggies is was late this afternoon... i was saving the best for last. i spent time sitting, taking the time to be in the moment and just be as i slowly took the seedlings out, finding the right spot in the garden and pushing the warm rich earth over the roots.
with the nets back on to keep the possums at bay, we finished our day in the garden.
both Hugo and i have a renewed sense of purpose and hope due to our harvest yesterday and the other plants growing well in our patch.
here's hoping for a bumper summer crop.

a weekend in the garden :: day 1
i awoke to a beautiful spring morning this morning. the boys and i went to our local craft/produce market. we headed straight for the plant stalls and purchased some vegetable seedlings including.....
::4 x tomato plants (all differing varieties)
::zucchini
::pumpkin
::chili x2
::cucumber
::beetroot
::carrots.
once home i took the nets off our vegetable garden and proceeded to pull out the broad bean crop, and turn the soil over. by doing this we un earthed a container of potatoes. the squeals of delight and wonder were amazing as the boys found them. we also harvested some celery as well.
its exciting to bring some veggies from the garden into the kitchen.
