a chooks life

being pocked and prodded and then freedom
this is the first time i have let them out.
nicole who owns penny came over and showed us what to do.
the three of them had a lovely time looking for bugs and scratching in the dirt.

new home

the chicks are growing.
we only ended up with the two eggs hatching. so we have moved them and penny into a large box now, where they will stay for awhile.
the boys can now see them easier and able to put their hands in ( although penny pecks us !!)

mini golf

today was a friend of Hugo's 5th birthday party playing mini golf. Hugo had a great time and really the way you could watch the balls roll down different ways and the skill of getting a ball in the hole. it was a party that he was part of but because the game was individual he loved it. a great fun afternoon.

i'm a mum again

....with chooks that is !!!
Hugo hatched chickens at kinder a few months ago and came home very excited. a great friend has chooks and everytime we are there Hugo is in the chook shed. when he came home and asked if he could have chooks, i said "well maybe, check with dad" thinking that it would be a sure fire NO, but alas the answer was " ok" so from then on every day heas been " when can we have chooks"
so my friend went and got some eggs and her chook sat on them. on saturday night i went and picked up penny and her eggs ( 5 in all) and bought them home. Hugo was so excited.
this morning i could here little peeps and we had one chick and then this afternoon out came another.
it was beautiful and Hugo is beside him self. he has to say good night to penny and is being very responsible getting water and food etc.

school

this morning Hugo's kinder group went to the local primary school to sing at their Monday morning assembly. the children have been learning the national anthem and sung it for the whole school.
the older children sung for them and they sung as well. it was a great morning and after assembly they spent the kinder session in the prep classrooms exploring and playing.

Liberty Skirt

Hugo's best friend at kinder is a little girl, called Ruby. it is her birthday soon, so i have bought some liberty material and i am going to make her a patchwork skirt. Hugo is very excited. i found a great pattern here and here. which i ma going to use.

kinder working Bee

today we went to kinder and helped redo the outdoor area. the children had so much fun riding in the bob cat and spreading tan bark. John took all the kids on the bob cat :: i'm not sure who had more fun - them or him !!!

to market to market

this morning we went into the botanical gardens market. it is the start of the season, it was nice to wander around and look at all the talented stall holders.
we then made our way to the children's garden. it doesn't seem to matter how many times we go, the boys love it and get so much from it. laughter and fun what better way is there to spend a Saturday morning....

cup Weekend :: Warburton

this weekend we spent 4 days at Warburton. somewhere we had never been before. it has always been a destination that you drive 6through on the way to somewhere else as it is only 45 minutes from home. 2 other kinder families and us went camping for the weekend. As a family we have only camped one other time ( with the same people) it's pretty easy as they both have vans, which makes cooking easy.
we were right on the banks of the Yarra river on a huge site so there was heaps of room for all the kids to run around. we had sun, warmth and torrential rain. we have just bought a brand new tent and it didn't leak at all which was great. the boys had so much fun swimming, rafting, fishing and playing. Hugo spent most of Monday morning playing in a puddle of mud !!!
on Tuesday i made horse heads with the kids and we had our own Melbourne cup race.
